Who can give doctors of the UMC Utrecht more time next to the beds of the patients?
In collaboration with Fabrique, UMC Utrecht and Hogeschool Rotterdam we researched this question in a team of 4 multimedia designers.
On average a doctor preforms several standard measurements three times a day which need to end up in the electronic patient files.
Most doctors try to save time and write down all the measurement on paper and fill it in at the computer at the end of their shift.
This workflow costs a lot of time and is error-prone. Because of the hectic in the hospital it sometimes is even forgotten.
The team got the challenge to find a fitting mobile solution to put the measurements in the electronic patient files. After doing field research and holding interviews with doctors we found out that filling in the measurements is not the only mobile need of the doctors. Using the agile methodology we designed a mobile app for the doctors. After 16 weeks we created a prototype fitting the needs and wants of the UMC Utrecht doctors.
